Becky Hoffman Receives Awards for Water Quality Work

Becky Hoffman Golden Spigot Award

Becky Hoffman receives her Golden Spigot Award from Mike McGuire, Chair of the Trustees of the American Water Works Association (AWWA) Water Quality and Technology Division.

MADISON, Wis. –  Becky Hoffman, an advanced microbiologist in the WSLH Environmental Health Division's Flow Cytometry Unit, is the recipient of two prestigious awards for her contributions to the study of water quality issues.

On November 16th, Hoffman received the Golden Spigot Award from the Water Quality and Technology Division of the American Water Works Association (AWWA). The award is given to one AWWA member annually in recognition of exemplary service to AWWA and providing creative, visionary and motivational leadership to assist the AWWA Water Quality and Technology Division in achieving its mission and goals. AWWA is an international nonprofit and educational society and the largest and oldest organization of water professionals in the world.

Hoffman also recently received the 2009 Research Award from the Wisconsin Water Association. This award recognizes contributions by Wisconsin-based researchers to water science and water supply.

Hoffman is also lead author on a feature article published in the June 2009 issue of Environmental Science & Technology that describes an approach to prioritize pathogens for potential future regulation in drinking water.
