The precursor of this website was started by the cytogenetics lab at the Waisman Center on September 20, 1996. At that time, most icons on any web page were animated, so the “dancing chromosomes” became a hallmark of our website. After the merger with the Wisconsin State Laboratory of Hygiene cytogenetics lab, the website was updated much less often, although it underwent a cosmetic change (the look was updated from the mid-1990’s patterns and icons, pictured below, to a look more consistent with other WSLH pages).
Late in 2013, the website was basically recreated, updating the look to that of the University of Wisconsin in general. Many parts of the old website–procedures, Case of the Month/Case Conference–were disposed of, possibly to return at a later date.
Enjoy the new site. Let me know if you have any questions or comments.
