Description:
These three one-day regional meetings presented by the Wisconsin State Laboratory of Hygiene (WSLH) offer clinical and public health laboratorians, infection preventionists, and state and local public health representatives the chance to strengthen their relationships through networking and discussions on relevant laboratory issues.
Join us as we discuss pathogens and events that are impacting the laboratory and our communities. We will provide a review of what we found and learned from our 2023-2024 WSLH surveillance program. We will share and discuss the process of enteric surveillance from an epidemiological perspective to show the value of the clinical laboratory’s participation in enteric surveillance. We will discuss what happens after a clinical laboratory identifies a suspect select agent including exposure assessment, root cause analysis, and the importance of repeat risk assessment. We will also share what we do at the WSLH to support your laboratory when we confirm the identification of a select agent. We will have a fun Kahoot quiz with public health trivia. We will hear about STI and GC susceptibility testing. We will discuss what you can do to prepare for the possible loss of electronic LIMS functionality. Finally, the day wouldn’t be complete without a couple of interesting case studies to test your diagnostic skills.
A certificate of participation will be granted to each participant based on 6.0 contact hours of instruction toward credit.
This program is sponsored by the Wisconsin State Laboratory of Hygiene which is an approved provider of continuing education programs in the clinical laboratory sciences by the ASCLS P.A.C.E. program.
