Description:

Following a brief description of the causative agent of syphilis, Treponema pallidum, and the clinical manifestations of infection, this session will review current syphilis diagnostic methods, including a description of both treponemal and non-treponemal assays. The presentation will subsequently focus on comparison and contrast of the traditional versus the reverse syphilis screening algorithms.
